Treatment Approach

As a therapist I strive to provide a therapeutic space where women can have safe, informed, and authentic conversations about their sexual and reproductive health. My treatment approach empowers clients to build trust in their bodies and develop confidence in their sexual and reproductive experiences. I understand the importance of providing a personalized treatment approach and work with my clients to build awareness of the unique factors that impact their sexual and reproductive health.

My approach integrates relational, feminist, sex-positive, and strength-based techniques to provide you with space to grow your own insights and empower you to create change in your life. Along with traditional psychotherapy I integrate specific modalities such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) or Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) to address specific concerns.

I support an embodied approach to therapy and work with my clients to build a deeper connection with the emotions, sensations, and perceptions that are present in their bodies. I am passionate about working with my clients to build awareness of ways that their sexual and reproductive health are a part of their overall  physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual wellbeing.

Therapy provided at Embodied Empowerment, PLLC is guided by the following principles:

Intersectionality

Recognition that the concerns bringing you to therapy are impacted by the way you have been perceived or treated within your body and relationships. Therapy creates a safe space to explore the way that issues such as power, privilege, oppression, and abuse are intertwined with your identity, beliefs, and worldview.

Choice and
Autonomy

You have the right
to make decisions
about your own body
and relationships.
Therapy is used
as a space to
empower you to
make educated,
informed choices
that promote your
autonomy.

Inclusivity

 This practice is
a place where all
bodies, identities,
and relationships
are welcome.
Therapy creates a
safe, judgement-free
space where you can
authentically connect
with all parts of
yourself and your
relationships.

Social Justice

The idea that each individual has the right to be treated with dignity and respect, to be seen and heard, and to live authentically without fear. Therapy allows for exploration of experiences that create barriers to safety and equality, helping you to build tools for self-advocacy and growth.

Cultural Humility

Recognition that *YOU* are the expert of your own experiences and acknowledgement that you will enter the therapeutic relationship with your own values, beliefs, identities, and worldview. The job of your therapist is to create space for your journey of self-reflection and growth, while acknowledging their own biases and worldviews. Therapy is viewed as a space of mutual learning and collaboration.

Sex Positivity

An understanding
that consensual
sexual activity
is a fundamentally
healthy and
valuable part
of your overall
wellbeing. Therapy
creates a safe space
for you to create
an understanding of
what healthy,
authentic sexuality
means to you.

Reproductive Justice

You have the right
to make decisions
about when, how,
and if you decide
to build a family.
Therapy provides a
supportive, non-judgmental
space for you to
build the awareness
or confidence you need
to make informed
choices about your
reproductive health.

Trauma-Informed

Awareness
that trauma presents
itself in many
forms and will
be experienced
differently for every
individual. Therapy provides you with a safe space to understand ways that trauma has impacted your understanding of yourself and the world around you.
