Social and Relational Wellbeing
Being an LGBTQ+ person comes with many unique complexities like understanding your identity, coming out, dealing with family and social dynamics, and relationships and dating. You might face rejection, misunderstanding, or feel like you’re not fully supported.

Minority Stress and Resilience Building
Factors such as discrimination, societal rejection, and internalized stigma can exacerbate mental health challenges. Not feeling accepted or understood—by family, peers, or society at large—can deeply affect self-esteem, relationships, and overall well-being, leading to higher rates of anxiety, depression, loneliness, and trauma.

Anxiety
Facing discrimination, homophobia or transphobia, social isolation, rejection, and difficulty in coming out can make it incredibly challenging to navigate public spaces and authentically engage in your relationships. This can often lead to internal struggles with symptoms like overwhelming worries, hypervigilance, racing thoughts, and fears of rejection.

Disordered Eating and Body Dissatisfaction
Body image concerns, body dissatisfaction, body dysphoria, and disordered eating patterns are reinforced by societal pressures, identity-based stigma, and ideals that often exclude queer and trans bodies. These messages can lead to painful cycles of self-criticism, guilt, and comparison, affecting not only physical health, but also emotional well-being, identity development, and relationships.

Navigating societal expectations and internalized shame can negatively impact a sense of identity and self-acceptance. This can shape how you show up in relationships and the world around you, and cause patterns of self-doubt and questioning about the validity of who you are
